Plot Summary Eren Jaeger lives in city surrounded by monolithic walls. Outside dwell human murdering Titans. For decades members of the Scouting Legion have been the only humans who dared to leave the safety of the walls and gather information on the Titans. Every time they return, many of them are dead. Freedom loving Eren has no greater wish than to join them.

100 years ago, titans suddenly appeared on Earth. Soon, human civilization veered on collapse due to the titans. Humans then built a giant wall to defend themselves. Within the giant walls, humans lived in peace, but, 100 years later, the giant wall is broken.

Prolog That day, humanity remembered... More than one hundred years ago, Titans suddenly appeared. The majority of the human race was eaten and civilization collapsed. The survivors of the war built three walls to prevent the invasion of the Titans, and kept the peace by securing the living area inside. In one hundred years, the wall has not been broken... until this day.

Trivia
  1. Tetsuya Nakashima was originally selected to direct the film, with a public announcement on December 8, 2011. It was announced by December, 2012 that Tetsuya Nakashima has dropped out of the project due to creative differences. On December 4, 2013 a public announcement was made that the movie project will begin again with Shinji Higuchi as the film's director.
  2. The most popular character of the series, Levi Ackerman, will not appear in the movie. Instead, the movie depicts a completely new character called Shikishima, described as the "Strongest Man", opposing Levi’s "Humanity’s Strongest Soldier" title
  3. Shikishima was a battleship of the Imperial Japanese Navy and the lead ship of the Shikishima class in the late 1890s. During the Battle of Tsushima in May 1905, she was second in the line of battle of the First Division, following To-go-'s flagship Mikasa
  4. The theme song of the movie is Anti-Hero by Sekai no Owari.
